Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port Qasim where four ships scheduled to load/offload containers 26,000 tonnes wheat, 66,614 tonnes diesel oil and 55,000 tonnes coal were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Gain & Fertilizer Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Iron ore & Coal berth respectively on Friday, April 1.

Meanwhile two more ships carrying 56,329 tonnes Iron ore and 18,929 tonnes palm oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same day.

Berth occupancy was managed at 54% at the Port on Friday as against to 31% on previous day, where a total of seven ships namely C.V APL Chile, C.V Glory, M.V Sam Eagle, M.V Tycoon, M.V Shinyo Ayush, M.T Primo Stealth and M.T Theresa Blossom are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, coal, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at the Port where a cargo volume of 90,890 tonnes, comprising 65,170 tonnes import and 25,720 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in containers 3,014 (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.

M.T Primo Stealth and M.T Theresa Blossom sailed out to sea on Saturday morning, while two more ships C.V APL Chile and C.V Glory are expected to sail on same day.

Three ships C.V MSC Magali, M.T Chemroad Nova and M.T Al- Soor-II carrying containers, palm oil and diesel oil are expected to take berths at QICT, LCT and FOTCO respectively on Saturday, April 2, while another ship C.V Maersk Georgia is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Sunday April 3.
