LONDON: Sterling hit a three-month high against the dollar on Wednesday, as investors bought the pound following sticky inflation numbers and expectations the Bank of England will keep rates on hold.
Sterling rose to 1.6277, its highest level since Sept. 21 and rising past reported options barrier at $1.6275. Next resistance was expected at the September high of $1.6310.
