MULTAN: Over 9.58 million bales of cotton have reached ginneries across Pakistan till Dec 1, showing a slight decrease of 0.7 per cent compared to last year, says a fortnightly report issued by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) here on Monday.
According to the report, cotton arrival was recorded at 9,582,560 bales and of them 8,979,559 bales were ginned.
Overall arrival figures show a 0.7 per cent decrease as last year's arrival figure was recorded at 9.65 million bales during the corresponding year compared to 9.58 million bales so far this year.
Punjab recorded arrival of 6.6 million bales showing a decrease of 12.4 per cent while Sindh ginneries received 2.977 million bales recording a surge of 41.11 per cent compared to last year.
The report said that exporters bought 159,740 bales and 7.65 million bales by textile millers till Dec 1, 2012.
The stock of unsold bales was recorded at 1.77 million.
