LEAs to take targeted action to tackle lawlessness in Karachi

Published Updated

KARACHI: Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik has said that targeted action will be taken by the law enforcement agencies to tackle the problem of lawlessness in Karachi.

He was talking to the media persons after holding a detailed meeting with the DG Rangers Pakistan (Sindh) here on Monday.

"Action will be taken without any discrimination against any political party whether they may belong to PPP, MQM, ANP or Sunni Tehreek," he said while responding to various queries.

It is our priority to provide protection to the life and property of the masses, he added.

To a question about desecration of the Holy Quran by an American priest, the Minister said that it was also a conspiracy against the Muslim Ummah.

He said that the government was taking all the political and religious parties into confidence on the issue and pointed out that the issue could provoke terrorism and extremism in the Muslim world.

"We urge the US government to take efforts to prevail upon measures for inter-faith harmony," he added.
