Govt increasing capacity of existing power plants: Nargis Sethi

nargis-sethi 400ISLAMABAD: Secretary Water and Power Nargis Sethi has said that the government is working to increase the capacity of existing power plants.

 

Talking to Pakistan Television (PTV), she said that the Ministry of Water and Power was trying to overcome the power shortfall and added that efforts were being made to enhance the power generation capacity.

 

Replying to a question, she said that the WAPDA had disconnected the electricity connections for those institutions, which were not paying the bills.

 

She said that the government had controlled the problem of loadshedding.

 

She said that all resources were being utilized to create awareness among the people to save the energy.

 

Replying to another question, the secretary said that a strict monitoring system was adopted to balance demand and supply in the energy sector.

 

Nargis Sethi said that the ministry had given a slogan to people "to save the electricity, water, gas and made the life easy".

 

To a question, she said that the Thar-Coal project would take some time to give results.

 

She said "We will make all-out efforts to implement the decision of the Prime Minister regarding the Thar-Coal project."

 

She urged the people to save the energy and always approach the right department of the government for getting connection of the electricity.

 

Nargis Sethi said that during the Eid holidays the loadshedding would be minimized for the convenience of the public.

 

She said that ministry had established a helpline for registering the complaints of the people. The numbers are 051-9204430, 051-9206834.
