QUETTA: Electricity shortfall has climbed to over 1100 Megawatt in Balochistan against the demand of 1300MW in the province, sources conformed on Thursday.
Spokesman for the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), Shafqat Ali told APP that following the subversive acts of double circuit transmission lines in Sibi, Mach and Harnai areas, the power shortfall in Balochistan has jumped up to over 1100 MW.
14 districts of the province are badly affected due to the non-availability of electricity, he said adding however electricity to Quetta city was being supplied from alternate lines.
He noted that after the blowing up of 220 and 132 KV double circuit transmission lines, there is just 150 MW available with QESCO which is being generated in Habibullah Coastal power plant and in some other alternate means.
Increase in the hours of loads heeding in parts of the province is our compulsion he said and added however, after getting security clearance, the QESCO technical staff has started repair work and the power supply would be resumed to all affected districts of the province soon.
