SAO PAULO: Brazilian state-controlled oil company Petrobras said on Tuesday that output fell 2.2 percent in February from the prior month as it stopped production at some offshore facilities for scheduled maintenance.
Petrobras' average oil and natural gas production locally and abroad fell to 2.60 million barrels of oil equivalent per day last month, the company said in an emailed statement. The number was 1.7 percent higher compared with the same month of 2010.
Production in Brazil reached 2.35 million, or about 2.8 percent less than in January, due "to scheduled stoppages of production in some platforms during the month," Petrobras said in a statement.
In February, natural gas production in domestic fields reached 53 million cubic meters daily, a 5.5 percent drop from January 2011.
