ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Tuesday that walk-out from the Presidential address to the Parliament was a unanimous decision of all the opposition parties.
Addressing a press conference, Ch Nisar said that they boycotted the President's address because the government, he claimed, was not serious in addressing the basic issues of people the court decisions were not being implemented and independence of media was being targeted, he alleged
He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) decided to register its condemnation on this occasion but within democratic norms.
He claimed that about 45 to 50 per cent parliamentarians boycotted the joint-sitting and only members of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Awami National Party and Pakistan Peoples Party remained present in the House.
Chaudhry Nisar said that new taxes of Rs 53 billion had been imposed through an ordinance which, he claimed, was interference in the affairs of National Assembly.
He also demanded constitution of a judicial commission or a parliamentary commission to know the facts about the release of US citizen Raymond Davis.
Opposition leader also criticized the government for its failure to stop target killings in Balochistan and Karachi.
