paralympicsKARACGI: Sports fans are struggling to buy seats at the Paralympics commencing from August 29.

The annoyed fans have criticised Games organisers as another 45,000 tickets went on sale yesterday.

Thousands of people have reportedly gone online to book a spot at the 12-day event which is set to be a sell-out for the first time in its 52-year history.

Some 2.2million tickets of the 2.5million available have already been sold and, with 100,000 being held back until after the games begin, spaces are fast running out.

A fan complained on social networking site ‘twitter’; “Spent another two hours trying to buy Paralympics tickets. Apparently there are loads available. Not for me. Giving up again.”

“That’s it. I cannot try for Paralympics tickets any more. My heart is broken and it’s too excruciating,” tweeted another fan.

The latest tickets to go on sale mean 445,000 more have been sold than the previous record of 1.8million set at the last Olympics in Beijing.

25,000 tickets were on offer for athletics, with the rest for wheelchair basketball, track cycling, equestrian events and rowing.

“We are working flat out to stage a memorable Paralympics Games and I’m delighted that the enthusiasm and support for our Games from the UK shows no sign of wavering,” said LOCOG chairman Lord Coe.
