LONDON: The euro fell to a record low against the New Zealand dollar on Thursday, dragged down broadly by rising borrowing costs at an auction of Spanish bonds while demand for higher-yielding assets boosted the New Zealand currency.
The euro fell to a low of NZ$1.5294, breaking below the July 11 low of NZ$1.5296.
The New Zealand dollar rose along with other higher-yielding currencies like the Australian dollar as they tracked broad gains on equity markets due to firmer corporate earnings. It also hit a near two-week high against the US dollar of US$0.8033.
