Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 70,346 tonnes of cargo comprising 48,777 tonnes of import cargo and 21,569 tonnes of export cargo including 3,469 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The Karachi Port handled 70,346 tonnes of cargo comprising 48,777 tonnes of import cargo and 21,569 tonnes of export cargo including 3,469 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 48,777 tonnes comprised of 33,187 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,241 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,033 tonnes of DAP; 221 tonnes of canola and 13,095 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 21,569 tonnes comprised of 9,627 tonnes of containerised cargo; 242 tonnes of bulk cargo and 11,700 tonnes of clinkers.

As many as 3,469 containers comprising of 2,459 containers of import and 1,010 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 567 of 20's and 893 of 40's loaded while 12 of 20's and 47 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 298 of 20's and 127 of 40's loaded containers while 32 of 20's and 213 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Dolphin-II, Kota Gunawan, Diavolezza, Great Cosmos and Liberty Pride carrying containers, canola, DAP and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. Southamption Express, Performance, Kota Gunawan, Coral Star and Liberty Pride carrying containers and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely Southamption Express carrying containers expected to sail on Wednesday while another ship namely Haruna Express carrying mogas is expected to sail on Thursday.

There is one vessel viz. Cosco Japan carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday while six more vessels viz. MOL Gateway, Cosco Taicang, Charlotte Schulte, Osaka Star, Peace Worth and Finola carrying containers, canola, chemical and live stock respectively are expected to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 178,195 tonnes comprising of 131,360 tonnes of import cargo and 46,835 tonnes of export cargo including 4,726 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 131,360 tonnes includes 15,475 tonnes of LNG; 37,000 tonnes of coal; 13,298 tonnes of palm oil; 2,644 tonnes of dirsel oil; 12,287 tonnes of soyabean; 1,470 tonnes of palm kernel; 4,707 tonnes of LPG and 44,479 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 46,835 tonnes includes 1,520 tonnes of clay; 45,315 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,726 containers comprising of 2,341 containers import and 2,385 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There are five ships namely MSC Gina, Takreem, STC Sentoza, Glory Harvest and Al-Sheehania carrying containers, clay, coal LPG and LNG respectively expected to sail on Wednesday afternoon.

A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, clay, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eight vessels viz. MOL Courage, Universal Bremen, African Kite, Star Monica, Star Topaz, Lyric Poet, Tomson Gas and Epic Manhattan carrying containers, coal, soyabean and LPG respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. MOL Gateway, African Kite and Tomson Gas carrying containers, coal and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely MOL Gateway carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday while three more ships namely MOL Courage, Osaka Tower and Maersk Bentonville carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
