The Pakistan Medical Association has urged the government to ensure enhanced screening measures at the country's airports for prevention of coronavirus.
"The patients suffering from coronavirus came back to Pakistan from Iran. Unfortunately they were not screened at the airport. This shows our negligence, which has to be overcome," General Secretary of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Dr Qaiser Sajjad told a press conference at the PMA House here on Friday.
He was accompanied by Dr. Sohail Akhtar of Pakistan Islamic Medical Association, Dr. Afia Zafar, Prof. & Consultant, Aga Khan University Hospital, Dr. Nisar Rao, President, Pakistan Chest Society, and Dr. Samreen Sarfaraz, Medical, Microbiology & Infectious Diseases Society of Pakistan.
Dr Qaiser Sajjad suggested to the government to improve facilities at airports to scan passengers arriving from high risk countries, particularly from China, Thailand, Afghanistan and Iran.
