Smuggled betel nuts seized

Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation (DGI&I)-Customs, Karachi on Monday seized myriad quantity of smuggled betel nuts from a warehouse located at SITE area.

According to details, the action was taken on a tip-off, which revealed that huge quantity of smuggled betel nuts were being transported to Karachi and being dumped at a warehouse located at SITE area. Reacting on this information, a team of DGI&I, Karachi was deputed to carry out surveillance and identified the exact location of the premises where these smuggled goods were being stocked.

The team took about three days to identify and locate the exact address which was at Industrial Park, Small Industrial & Trading Estate, within the jurisdiction of PS SITE (B), Karachi. The DGI&I during search of the warehouse led to the recovery of 1,880 bags of betel nuts weighing 78.8 metric tons (approx).
