Chief Commissioner in Land Revenue, Federal Board of Revenue, Sardar Ali Khawaja has said that the proposed Point of Sale (POS) system would be implemented after proper consultation with business community.

He was talking to a delegation of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Wednesday. The SCCI delegation led by its acting president of SCCI, Shahid Hussain, former president Zahidullah Shinwari, President Industrailist Association Hayatabad Peshawar, Zarak Khan and other members of the chamber.

Commissioner in Land Revenue, Mohammad Tariq Arbab, Additional Commissioner Headquarter, Ajmal Khan were present in the meeting. The SCCI delegation apprised the official of regional tax office (RTO) about reservations of business community on the proposed POS system. The meeting thoroughly discussed the POS system.

Ali Khawaja while speaking during the meeting highlighted significance of the new sale tax system and said that market committees had constituted in the light of agreement between the Federal Board of Revenue and traders' leaders.

He said the decision to register those retailers which are doing wholesale business will be made in proper consultation with traders committee. He sought the SCCI and whole business community cooperation for making the proposed Point of Sale (POS) System successful.

A day earlier, traders community expressed serious reservations over introduction of Point of Sale (POS) system by Federal Board of Revenue and it said the system was unacceptable for the terrorism-hit businesses and city. They made it clear that the traders will strongly resist and protest if the POS system was imposed on them and all responsibility will be rested upon FBR and its subordinate regional tax office.

The traders' leaders informed the meeting that they have serious concerns on Point of Sale (POS) system introduced by FBR. They said the POS procedure is unclear and doing businesses after implementation of this system would be impossible in the provincial capital.

The traders' community made it clear that the system couldn't acceptable the POS until it implementation on the whole chain, including industries and wholesalers. The traders said the FBR is being carried out step-motherly attitude with them, which was strongly condemnable and unacceptable.

Shahid Hussain while talking to traders' delegation expressed serious apprehensions over introduction of Point of Sale by FBR as the system implementation on the war-affected businesses and city is an unfeasible and unwise step, which will be opposed at every level.

He warned that if the FBR will implement the POS forcibly, then the traders community will protest strongly, then whole responsibility will be rested upon FBR and its subordinate Regional Tax Office.
