Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday urged the federal government to allow the export of wheat to provide urgent relief to farmers.

He made these remarks while speaking on the floor of the National Assembly.

He also lashed out at the caretaker government’s decision to import wheat.

“The decision had immensely hurt the farmers, the agriculture sector, the public and the country’s economy,” he said, calling for accountability of “undemocratic, unelected, inept and incapable” individuals whose decisions had hurt the country badly.

“To add insult to injury … there was also a restriction on exporting wheat so what is a farmer to do,” he said.

The PPP chairman said the government, instead of constituting “endless committees” should take immediate action to rectify the situation and address farmers’ concerns.

Bilawal said all parties, including PTI, PPP and PML-N agreed that agriculture was the backbone of the country’s economy.

“Yet, the financial murder of our farmer is still underway,” he said and urged all parties to unanimously raise voices on the issue and end farmers’ plight.

He also lambasted PTI for wanting to engage in talks with military leadership, saying they were inviting interference from the same people they recently lectured on upholding the Constitution.

“According to PTI leaders,” Bilawal said, “Talking to politicians was unconstitutional, but dragging state institutions to interfere in politics was a constitutional move.”

Yet another shoddy attempt to get on to the bandwagon. The boy doesn't know what he's talking about.
