The Karachi Port handled 168,188 tonnes of cargo comprising 120,791 tonnes of import cargo and 47,397 tonnes of export cargo including 8,947 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 120,791 tonnes comprised of 70,141 tonnes of containerised cargo; 32 tonnes of bulk cargo and 50,618 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 47,397 tonnes comprised of 29,402 tonnes of containerised cargo; 301 tonnes of bulk cargo; 16,794 tonnes of clinker and 900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,947 containers comprising of 5,583 containers of import and 3,364 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,502 of 20's and 1,624 of 40's loaded while 415 of 20's and 209 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 781 of 20's and 398 of 40's loaded containers while 283 of 20's and 752 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There was one ship namely Berlin Express carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. OOCL California, Polo, Botany Bay, Clemens Schulte, Sopia and Taihua Spirit carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 169,134 tonnes comprising 150,478 tonnes of import cargo and 18,656 tonnes of export cargo including 3,469 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 150,478 tonnes includes 69,317 tonnes of coal; 7,810 tonnes of palm oil; 5,500 tonnes of palm kernel; 875 tonnes of chemical; 17,500 tonnes of soyabean and 49,476 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 18,656 tonnes includes 2,221 tonnes of rice and 16,435 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,469 containers comprising of 2,604 containers import and 865 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely Asia Liberty carrying palm oil sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely Copenhagen Eagle carrying LPG is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, soysbean, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. African Turn, Han Ren, Leo Iris, Tiger Winter, NH-Sir-I, Methane Jane Elizabeth, Hong Ze Hu, Genuine Galaxy and Everrich-7 carrying general cargo, soyabean, chemical, mogas, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. MOL Gateway, IVS Crimson Creek, Sea Fortress, Gas Amazon, Methane Jane Elizabeth and Everrich-7 carrying containers, coal, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There were five ships namely MOL Gateway, Epic Trade, Sea Fortress, IVS Crimson Creek and Gas Amazon carrying containers, coal and LPG respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
