PBC hails SC order

Vice-Chairman Pakistan Bar Council Syed Amjad Shah has appreciated the Supreme Court's decision to suspend the notification/order of the federal government granting extension to incumbent Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The statement issued by the PBC secretary said the apex court's order reflects true spirit of the Constitution and well settled law as laid down by the Supreme Court and the stance of the Pakistan Bar Council and the legal fraternity in general. He assured his full support to the judiciary in its pursuits for upholding the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law in the national interest.

In view of the suspension of the decision of the federal government by the Supreme Court, Amjad Shah has withdrawn the call, earlier given by him as Vice-Chairman Pakistan Bar Council for observance of 'Black Day' by lawyers throughout the Country on 28-11-2019.

The PBC vice-chief strongly condemned the filing of petition in the Islamabad High Court by the federal government seeking directions for the Special Court trying General Pervez Musharaf (retd) to refrain from announcing its verdict in the high treason case against him.
