How perceptive and realistic a Business Recorder op-ed writer Parvez Jamil is about the common man's woes. He, for example, in his op-ed titled 'Market matters: Price index and home planner', carried by the newspaper yesterday, has plausibly argued, among other things, that "While the opulent, despite fashionable alarms of inflation, enjoy lavish cooking through an array of tongue-tilting vegetable, chicken, mutton, veil or beef delicacies, the "have nots" can look for creative ways in cheap buys for two taste buds testing meals a day."

The plight of the poor is always there to observe; dignity disappears when your children are starving. Rising inflation and reduced job opportunities have actually accentuated their distress or wretchedness. It is said that childbirth is the worst pain a woman could ever feel. The birth of 'Naya Pakistan' is inflicting a profound pain on the poor in particular.
