KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, has directed the law enforcing agencies to strictly maintain law and order in the province particularly in Karachi and that all out efforts be made to protect the lives of poor, innocent and down-trodden people at every cost.
This he observed while presiding over a law and order meeting held Saturday at the CM House here.
He added that culprit is a culprit and it is prime duty of law enforcing agencies to arrest the accused whose number is not so large, but who are killing the people.
Sindh Chief Minister said that during recent meeting of stakeholders, it was unanimously resolved that action be taken against criminals across the board and he made it clear that no one will interfere in the affairs of law enforcing agencies, as such prompt results be shown.
He said that the government is spending a huge amount on law and order and the government gives first priority to maintenance of a peaceful atmosphere as all resources and facilities like transport, ammunition, staff etc have been provided to the law enforcers for the purpose.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that notorious criminals be arrested and challaned in the court of law for punishments, while the rule of law and authority of the law be strictly maintained.
He further said that the government has given free hand to police and rangers and that the expected results of maintenance of law and order be achieved.
Chief Minister further directed that the performance be improved and criminal activities be strictly controlled.
He said that it must be ensured that the police officers who are posted in a Thana work hard and control the activities of criminals with an iron hand.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah stressed upon I.G. Police Sindh to maintain merit, abilities, qualities and prompt performance of officers while giving them postings of police stations, as police is responsible to the government and government is responsible to the people.
He also stressed that police and rangers should jointly work with proper coordination and should operate against criminals.
Chief Minister said that people living in Karachi are Pakistani and they are working and residing here with expectations that the government of Sindh will protect their lives and properties.
He announced that those who would work with commitment and devotion would be rewarded.
Earlier, Sindh Home Minister, Manzoor Hussain Wassan, Sindh Chief Secretary, Raja Muhammad Abbas, I.G Police Sindh, Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Syed Sohail Akber Shah, Deputy D.G. Rangers Brig. Muhammad Rafique Khan, Additional I.G Police Karachi Akhtar Gorchani, Commissioner Karachi Roshan Ali Shaikh, and heads of various law enforcement agencies presented their reports and assured the Sindh Chief Minister that peace will be restored in Karachi and criminals will be eliminated.
