ISLAMABAD: Barrister Aitezaz Ahsan, counsel for the Prime Minste, on Friday completed his arguments pleading that the conduct of the Prime Minister was not contemptuous in the matter of implementation of a judgment of the Apex Court and the contempt proceedings be graciously disposed off.

Winding up his arguments, Aitezaz Ahsan said the Prime Minister always held the court and judiciary in the highest respect.

The President is the symbol of the Federation, the most important component of the Parliament and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, therefore, he cannot be exposed to jeopardy of a foreign magistrate, the counsel said.

He said the dignity of the office of the Head of the State and sovereignty of the State demanded to be protected at any cost.

He said orders of the Supreme Court needed to be implemented and even the judgment in NRO case relating to a letter to the Swiss authorities must and would be implemented after the relinquishment of office by the President.

Barrister Aitezaz said the conduct of the Prime Minister was not contemptuous as he had no intention to flout the judgement of the Supreme Court and sought only that if the letter in question, the implementation of judgement to the extent be postponed till the present incumbent of office of President leaves this office.

He cited precedent in Zafar Ali Shah case, wherein Nawaz Sharif's step of hijacking airplane of General Musharraf was declared illegal under the constitutional jurisdiction but after lapse of nine years he was acquitted in the case.

He said mere knowledge could not be assumed as evidence in criminal case of serious charges.
