CM Sindh chairs meeting regarding local govt election schedule

 KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah Wednesday presided over meeting regarding presentation of schedule for holding local government elections, at CM House here.

An official statement said that speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan in a suo motu case has given directions to all provincial governments to prepare a schedule for holding local government elections.

He said that in view of the directives, the matter was discussed thoroughly in perspective of views of participants of the meeting. The meeting also discussed the requirements as per directives of the Supreme Court.

The statement said that various issues were discussed in the meeting and it was decided to submit a viewpoint to the Supreme Court for consideration.

The meeting was attended among others by Sindh Minister for Local Government, Agha Siraj Durrani, Sindh Law Minister, Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Sindh Finance Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Chief Secretary, Raja Muhammad Abbas, Advocate General Sindh, Abdul Fatah Malik, Secretary Law, Syed Ghulam Nabi Shah, Secretary Finance, Naveed Kamran Baloch, Secretary Local Government, Ali Ahmed Lund, and Provincial Election Commissioner Sindh, Sono Khan Baloch.
