ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Wednesday forecast moderate to heavy rainfall associated with gusty winds over most parts of Balochistan including Makran Coast during next 48 hours.
A well marked westerly wave influencing Balochistan still persists with its extension towards north and under the influence of this weather system, heavy rains are expected which may cause flash flooding in the local rivers/streams of the area.
In an advisory issued today, Director PMD, Azmat Hayat Khan has said the sea conditions along Makran coast would remain rough to very rough till Friday, due to strong gusty winds. Therefore, fishermen are advised not to venture the open sea during the period.
The scattered rainfall of moderate intensity is also likely over most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Punjab during next 36-48 hours with isolated heavy rainfall in D.I Khan, Bannu and D.G Khan divisions during the period.
According to the advisory, a westerly wave influencing Balochistan from today morning is developing an intense cyclonic circulation over adjacent sea.
Under the influence of this weather system, moderate to heavy rainfall associated with gusty winds exceeding 40km/hour is expected in coastal areas of Balochistan and adjoining Sindh coast including Karachi.
The rain producing system is expected to further extend upward to north Balochistan, adjacent western Sindh, KPK, Kashmir/Gilgit- Baltistan and Punjab and cause rainfall of moderate intensity over the most of the places whereas isolated heavy rainfall is also expected.
However, intense rainfall along Suleman range may generate hill torrents/flash flooding on Thursday and Friday.
The highest maximum temperature recorded at Chorr, Mithi and Hyderabad 39 C. The maximum temperatures recorded during last 24 hours were Islamabad 30 C, Lahore 31 C, Quetta 26 C, Karachi 34 C, Peshawar 32 C, Muzaffarabad 30 C, Gilgit 27 C, Murree 17 C, Multan 34 C and Faisalabad 31C.
Today's pollen count of Islamabad is 460 per cubic meter in the air.
The chief amount of rainfall recorded was Barkhan 50 mm, Bahawalpur 48 mm, D.I Khan 15 mm, Quetta 13 mm, Kalat 12 mm, Quetta 9 mm, D.G Khan 8 mm, Bahawalpur 8 mm, Malam Jabba 6 mm, Multan 6 mm and Noorpurthal 4 mm.
