Media freedom inevitable for promoting democratic culture: Firdous

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Tuesday said media freedom is inevitable for promotion of democratic culture in the country.

In a statement, she said workers and journalists are backbone of the media industry.

"We hope that payments to workers and implementation of wage board award would further promote the media industry," she added.

The Minister congratulated the journalists and advertising companies for receiving the 22nd All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) awards last day.

Pakistan People's Party and media have rendered matchless sacrifices for the stability and strengthening of democracy.   Dr.Firdous said the PPP led government has introduced the culture of tolerance in politics.
