SWABI: President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday lauded the efforts of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI), Swabi for establishment of Natural Fluids Refrigeration Centre (NFRC) to help provide refrigeration solutions to industry and also to carry out research in environmental issues in the region.
President Asif Ali Zardari, who is also Chancellor of the GIK Institute, in his message that was read out during inauguration of the NFRC at GIKI said that he is pleased to learn that Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology has established the Natural Fluids Refrigeration Centre (NFRC) to provide refrigeration solutions to industry and also to carry out research in environmental issues in the region.
He appreciated the Rector of the Institute, Jehangir Bashar and all those whose efforts have made the setting up of NFRC possible and also congratulated Isotherm Inc., USA and its President Dr Zahid Ayub, who is also one of the illustrious alumni of the Institute, for collaboration in setting up this Centre.
President Asif Ali Zardari said GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology has earned a name for excellence in imparting quality education and also for equipping students with high moral values.
"As the Chancellor of the Institute, I feel proud of its many achievements. I wish to commend its Rector, the Board of Governors and the faculty for their commitment and dedication in achieving the excellence that it has achieved," he said.
"Demographic changes are taking place the world over at a fast pace. Research in understanding the dynamics of these changes is critical for meeting challenges posed by global warming, rising sea levels and abrupt changes in the weather patterns. The quality of a research Centre lies not in brick, mortar and machines; it lies in the quality of its human resource and its research," the President said.
He said the global partnership that the Centre enjoys and the commendable dedication of the management, the faculty and the students of the Institute can make the NFRC a truly quality research centre. I am confident the Institute will rise to the challenge in meeting the expectations.
The President congratulated the Rector, the Board of Governors, the management, the faculty and the students of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, the President Isotherm and all those whose efforts have made the setting up of this Centre possible.
He wished the GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology and the NFRC greater success and glory in the years ahead.
Earlier, the Centre was formally inaugurated by Spokesman to President office, Senator Farhatullah Babar during an impressive ceremony here at GIK institute that was attended by faculty members and students in large number.
