KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Prisons Ayaz Soomro has declared four jails in the province sensitive after the Bannu jailbreak.
Talking to media persons here on Monday, the minister said that Central Prison Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkar and Malir District jails have been declared sensitive and Frontier Constabulary has been deployed.
He said that Sindh government is on high-alert, Frontier Constabulary deployed at 27 jails of the province after jail-break in Bannu city of Khyber Pakhtunkhaw.
He said that IG Prisons of Sindh through a letter has issued instructions for taking extraordinary steps for security of jails.
He said the Jail Superintendents have also been directed to ensure checking of the inmates during the day and night. "We are also computerizing the record of all the prisoners", he told.
The minister stated that mobile phone use in the jails has been banned and Public Call Office system introduced to facilitate inmates talking to their families.
To a question Soomro told that there were around one thousand hardened criminals lodged in different jails of province especially at Karachi Central Jail, Malir Jail, Hyderabad Central Jail and Sukkur jail and all the four prisons have been declared highly sensitive.
To another query, he said the FC personnel were already posted for jail security in Sindh.
