New generation is our most precious asset and it's duty of whole society to take care of our kids, said Regional Police Officer (RPO) Faisalabad Ghulam Mehmood Dogar. He was speaking at a special 'commendation ceremony' to acknowledge the efforts of Waqar Shoaib, District Police Officer (DPO), Toba Tek Singh for detecting two separate cases of child abduction.
He underlined the importance of community policing and said it is practically impossible to control crime without the active cooperation of responsible citizens. "Similarly, law and order is also our shared responsibility, in which the role of police is only 10 to 15 percent. He said it is general trend to hold only police responsible of all prevailing social, moral and societal ills by giving a clean chit to other segments including religious clergy, parents, educational institutions and social activists.
Regarding the child abduction cases, he told that people reposed full confidence in police which helped us to trace the culprits. He said crime detection rate is never 100 percent even in highly developed societies but when police successfully detects a case, it must be acknowledge and patted. "It is very important to encourage police force to work with a renewed commitment, vigor and zeal," he added.
He said police is working to provide protection to masses. "Due to this vigorous task, most of the policemen become abnormal after the age of 50", he said and added that during this long journey many of them have to sacrifice their lives. He quoted a phone call of his businessman friend late night and said that we both are working hard. But my reply was very stunning for him as he was working for his personal benefit whereas police force was working round the clock to provide protection to fellow countryman. He further said historically our social system was disintegrating and we are losing our century old social, moral and cultural values.
Regarding unbridled western society, he said they had no time to even dig out the reasons of their societal collapse but we must analyze it to save our social values and traditional families system. He also stressed for community policing and said that it could play a major role in arresting crimes through active participation of people.
