Cop killed, several injured in Quetta explosion

(Karachi) A policeman has lost his life while several others are reported injured after an explosion occurred near a police van in Baluchistan’s Quetta City on Tuesday. The incident occurred on Double Road area.

The victim was identified as Khalil Ahmed. Soon after the blast, heavy contingent of police and security personnel reached the site and cordoned of the area.

The exact nature of the blast could not be ascertained as yet. However, there are reports that a policeman has been martyred, while 10 people suffered injuries in the incident. The injured were shifted to a local hospital.

Several cars and motorcycles have also been damaged. A video footage on a private TV channel showed fire erupted as soon as the explosion occurred.

Meanwhile, Baluchistan Home Minister Ziaullah Langoo condemned the incident and offered sympathies with the families of the victims.
