Inter-University Bait Bazi Competition held at Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), with title of "BOL KY LAB AZAD HAIN TERE", was won by Karachi University Team "Ghalib".

On the occasion the responsibility of judges was performed by Prof Iqbal Peer Zada, Prof Tahir Hussain and Prof Rukhsana Naz.

Speaking on the occasion Prof Iqbal Peer Zada said the medical students have to choose art, music or literature as an optional subject in the western countries, the addition of optional subjects helps medical student to be a better human as well as a doctor in a society.

He further said that optional subjects should be included in medical education curriculum. Speaking on the occasion Prof Thair Hussain appreciated the efforts of Dow debating and literary society to organise such a wonderful event with good discipline.

Speaking on the occasion Prof Rukhsana Naz said nowadays, despite the shortest of poetry, the students' teams made excellent poetry. She said that the Dow University administration deserves congratulations on conducting such programmes to support their students in co-curricular activities with medical education, it provides an opportunity to overcome burden on their minds and become closer to the arts. There is a need to push this chain forward and extend it to other educational institutions.

Prof Tahir Hussain said Dow University is my mother alumni, in the 1980's, such events were usually held at Arag auditorium and the entire auditorium was filled due to interest in poetry, but unfortunately now this trend is declining.

In the end Prof Iqbal Perzada declared the winner Karachi University team comprising Suleman and Rehan Abbasi. While the second and third positions went to Dow University's teams "Meer" and "Masrat" respectively, containing Saman Naz and Asia Athar, Aleema Fatima and Mohammad Ghazi.

Vice Principal of Dow Medical College Dr Shumaila Khalid expressed gratitude and said the presence of all the people in the hall from the beginning to end is proof of her choice. She said Dow University always supports extracurricular activities and provide students with medical education to flourish their abilities in every field of life. She also encouraged other teams involved in the competition.
