SC rejects plea seeking three jail wardens' dismissal from service

The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a plea filed against departmental decision of suspending three jail wardens, seeking their dismissal from service. A two-judge bench headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and comprising Justice Yahya Afridi heard a case pertaining to five prisoners who fled after jailbreak.

During the course of hearing, the petitioner took the plea that the department has taken action against lower grade employees but didn't take any action against the superintendent and his deputy. He said on the day of incident, 12 wardens out of 20 were on duty at the residence of the jail superintendent.

Justice Yahya Afridi said that allegation of prejudice is being leveled in the plea which should to be proved. Justice Shah questioned why the petitioner not made these people respondents in service tribunal, as tribunal has given judgment against them. The bench disposed of the case seeking dismissal of three wardens.
