ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Thursday stressed serious conservation efforts to preserve the 5000 year old living city of Multan for the coming generations, and for its coveted place in history.
Talking to Fauzia Qureshi, Author of the "Built Heritage of Multan", here at the PM House, Gilani said conservation of the historic buildings would restore the grandeur of the city to a great deal.
He appreciated the work of Fauzia Qureshi and commented that it was not possible without the passion and commitment as it involved intense concentration and knowledge on the subject.
Fauzia Qureshi apprised the Prime Minister about the conservation and restoration project that includes 53 monuments. Survey and documentation has been completed and PC-I submitted to the government with an estimated cost of Rs 500 million.
She argued Prahaladapuri Temple, Jane Mander Temple and Gopal Mander were also included in the Heritage Multan project.
she commented that details of all the heritage monuments have been put on a web page to share it with the people across the world.
