RAWALPINDI: Minister for Defence, Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar on Thursday emphasized the need to enhance defence cooperation with Poland by availing various training courses, participation in military exercises and defence procurement.
He was talking to Commander in Chief of Polish Navy, Vice Admiral Tomasz Mathea, who called on the Minister here.
The Polish Navy Chief is currently visiting Pakistan on the invitation of Chief of the Naval Staff.
During the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation came under the discussion.
The Minister appraised the Polish delegation on Pakistan's role in the war on terror and efforts in hand to bring peace and stability in affected regions along western borders.
Polish Navy Chief thanked the Minister for inviting him and his delegation to Pakistan, making arrangements for his visit and hospitality extended to him.
He also conveyed grief and sorrow of Polish government on Siachen avalanche incident, and wished for success of rescue operation.
He also delivered formal invitation of Polish government to the Minister for visiting Poland in near future.
The Polish Navy Chief is also scheduled to visit Lahore and Karachi during his official engagements.
Later, the Minister and Polish Navy Chief exchanged souvenirs.
