The federal government's Inquiry Commission on Debt has started scrutinizing the funding in development projects in Sindh by seeking the information about various projects to scrutinize their utilization. The Commission sought the information about the funding of these projects under Section-4 of the Pakistan Commission of Inquiry Act 2017.

The prime minister set up an Inquiry Commission on Debts to probe into debt handling and the infrastructure projects carried out during the period from February 2008 to September 2018 by different government ministries, organisations and departments. Deputy Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Hussain Asghar heads the Debt Commission.

The Commission asked the provincial government to provide it the details of funding in "Sindh Education Reform" project, funded by the World Bank. The Commission held the view that the WB funded project needs close scrutiny and evaluation of project, therefore the provincial government should provide the details of the project, a letter of the commission sent to the Sindh government stated.

The Commission also asked the Sindh government to provide the information about "Multi-Sector Rehabilitation and Improvement Project. Planning & Development Department, Sindh has been asked to provide the copy of PC-1 as well as the details of project loan commitment as well as the progress on work of the project. The Commission also sought the information about "Rehabilitation and Expansion of High Priority 4,560 Schools" project in Sindh by asking the provincial government to give information about the loan commitment of the project as well as the status of the work on it.
