KARACHI: Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat- ul- Ebad Khan, has said that the coalition parties fully support the measures of the law enforcement agencies for the restoration of peace in the metropolis.
A statement issued here on Tuesday said that he was talking to media at the Governor House here on Tuesday after a meeting of the PPP and MQM.
Dr. Ishrat pointed out that there was no ethnic, sectarian or religious conflict in the city or in the province.
He was of the view that there are a handful of miscreants who, after any incident, try to give it ethnic, sectarian or religious colour in order to serve their ulterior motives.
The Governor said that in the recent incidents in the metropolis the workers belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) lost their lives.
However, after every incident of killings the miscreants tried to create a situation whereby more blood be shed.
Dr. Ishrat said that coalition parties have decided to constitute a joint committee which should be active at the local level and after every incident play its role and expose such conspirators.
He said that in today's meeting it was decided that all the coalition parties would work together and that full action would be taken against the miscreants.
Dr. Ishrat said that the political parties condemn every sort of targeted killing and want to see peace in the city as well as in the province.
He stated that the credit for the present political system goes to the political leadership which has exhibited political acumen.
The Governor pointed out that in the past committees were formed with regard to the law and order but as the situation improved such committees did not follow up.
He said that now it has been decided that such committees would follow up on permanent basis.
PPP leader Senator Faisal Raza Abidi said that there was no dispute between the PPP and the MQM. The killing of human beings in the city was tragic and that only an inhuman element can be involved in such incidents, the statement added.
He said that the law enforcement agencies should apprehend such elements and that media should also expose such elements.
He said that the PPP and the MQM are political forces and it is their resolve that indiscriminate action be initiated against the miscreants irrespective of their party affiliation, if any. For this other parties would also be taken into confidence.
MQM leader Dr. Sagheer Ahmed said that miscreants are trying to create misunderstanding but the coalition parties would jointly frustrate such attempts and no body would be allowed to mar the situation in the city.
He said that the law enforcement agencies should take indiscriminate action against the miscreants.
