ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday said government was striving to ensure consensus approval of the recommendations of Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS).
Talking to media outside Parliament House, she said, dialogue process with the opposition was continuing in positive direction.
Referring the last night meeting of the government and opposition, she said the presence of opposition leader Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan in the meeting was a positive development.
The Parliament is going to write a new history,she added.
The Parliament has power to add or subtract any clause of the recommendations of Raza Rabbani committee and finalise new terms of engagements with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
Government wants to implement only consensus recommendations of Raza Rabbani committee so that the new terms of engagements could reflect the aspirations of the whole nation, she said.
Paying rich tribute to late Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, she said he was a legendary leader, had served immensely to the countrymen. Bhutto had initiated atomic programme, promulgated consensus constitution, empowered the people, etc.
Responding to a question she said the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of Pakistan People's Party would be held in the first week of April. In the meeting the services of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto would be acknowledged.
Talking about Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leadership, she said hypocrisy is the hallmark of the politics of Sharif brothers.
Their words do not match with their actions.
To another question she said certain elements are trying to target the relatives of the Prime Minister. No accusation against any relative of the Prime Minister has so far been proved.
