Huawei faced a massive blow to its business after Google, whose Android mobile operating system powers most of world’s smartphones, decided to suspend its transactions with the smartphone brand.

In wake of US blacklisting of Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei, Google has cut off its ties with the firm that require transferring proprietary hardware and software. However, Android assured that current phones are safe and will have Google’s apps and services to continue working on the devices for now.

Huawei confirms having backup operating system in case it’s cut off from Android

Huawei ‘immediately’ has lost access to future OS updates beyond the Android Open Source Project, open source version of Android. Also, all its forthcoming phones will go without official Google apps such as the Google Play Store, Chrome, YouTube and Gmail, reported Digital Trends.

The immediate loss of access means that Huawei will have no further Android security updates for devices new and old, including the recently released ones. In addition, Huawei is effectively forbidden from buying parts and components from US firms without US government’s approval, which includes Android.

This action, as per Android Authority, will lead to have a dramatic impact on Huawei devices all across the globe. However, Huawei is said to be working on its own alternate mobile operating system since there were concerns already that the firm would lose its Android license from Google.
