HYDERABAD: The Commissioner of Hyderabad Division Ahmed Baksh Narejo has directed the officials of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) to open more counters in order to facilitate the beneficiaries of the welfare program.
He issued the directives while chairing a meeting attended by the officer of BISP and Sindh Government's Waseela-e-Haq program. While briefing the meeting BISP's Director Hyderabad Zone Abdul Majeed Soomro informed that the BISP forms had been distributed to more than 60 million women through the Members of National Assembly.
Of the total forms distributed, 7 million were currently benefiting the scheme which also offers a chance to participate in the lucky draws for free to win the prizes, he added.
He further informed that under the scheme up to Rs300,000 interest free loan was also given to the poor skilled women which would be payable in 51 years.
Additionally, the heads of the families of those 7 million women had been given a life insurance policy of Rs100,000 each. Under the Sindh Government's Waseela-e-Haq initiative, 550 women in Hyderabad, 321 in Badin, 173 in Jamshoro, 184 in Tando Allahyar, 163 in Tando Muhammad Khan, 293 in Thatta and 216 in Matiari districts had been selected, he added.
According to the director, they would be given one week training in management of the enterprises. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Commissioner of Hyderabad district Asif Ali Memon.
