RECORDER REPORT: KSE close of day

kse__400KARACHI: The KSE-100 on Wednesday increased by 77.02 points to close at 13,360.67 points on the back of investors interest mainly in banking and oil sector stocks.

The market opened on a strong positive note and the index breached 13,400 psychological level to hit 13,460.15 points intra-day high level. Profit taking in late hours however minimized the intra-day gains.

Trading activities also improved as the volumes at ready counter increased to 347.208 million shares as compared to 313.592 million shares traded on Tuesday. Total market capitalization increased by Rs 13 billion to Rs 3.467 trillion. Of the total 405 active scrips, 218 closed in positive and 100 in negative while the value of 87 scrips remained unchanged.

JS Bank was the volume leader with 21.289 million shares and gained Re 0.33 to close at Rs 7.13. In the other banking sector stocks, Bank Al Falah, Bankislami Pakistan, Samba Bank and BoP increased by Re 0.43, Re 0.57, Re 0.15 and Re 0.28 to close at Rs 16.46, Rs 7.62, Rs 3.10 and Rs 9.09 with 18.576 million shares, 17.782 million shares, 14.180 million shares and 13.425 million shares respectively while NIB Bank lost Re 0.18 to close at Rs 2.73 with 19.659 million shares. TRG Pakistan declined by Re 0.37 to close at Rs 3.99 with 17.111 million shares.
