PPP to continue struggle to strengthen democracy: Babar

babar-awanISLAMABAD: Newly elected Senator and Presidential Spokesperson, Farhat Ullah Babar said future of the country lies in the democracy and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) will continue its struggle for strengthening democracy and institutions.

Talking to APP outside the Parliament after taking oath of office here on Monday, Farhat Ullah Babar said that the un-oppose elections of Chairman Senate and its Deputy is the continuity of the PPP-led coalition government's policy of reconciliation. He termed it a good omen and said that such practices will further strengthen democracy and democratic institutions.

He said that efforts will be made to take all such decisions in future with consensus. Babar expressed the hope that all the political parties will work collectively for legislation for welfare of the people.

He said that all the political parties are united and playing their vital role for stability and strengthening democracy. He said the Senate is a symbol of federation and he with all his colleague Senators will keep working to strengthen the federation.

To a question about role of "non-political forces" in national politics, Farhat Ullah Babar said that he will continue his struggle against the role of non-political forces in politics. Babar said that he will keep working for welfare of his province (Khyber PukhtoonKhwa ) and to fulfill PPP manifesto.

To a question he said that party leadership will decide whether he should continue as Presidential spokesperson or to play his role as a legislature.

Farhat Ullah Babar has been elected Senator for the second time on PPP ticket on technocrats seat from Khybar Pukhtoonkhwa.

Earlier, he served in the Senate from 2003 to 2006 and was an outspoken critic of dictatorial regimes.
