CHICAGO: Following are US trade expectations for the opening of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade at 8:30 a.m. CDT (1330 GMT) on Thursday.
NOTE: US markets, including the CME Group's Chicago Board of Trade, will be closed on Friday in observance of the Good Friday holiday.
WHEAT - Down 3 to 4 cents per bushel
* Wheat lower on concerns about rising US and global stockpiles, with few significant threats seen so far for developing Northern Hemisphere crops. CBOT May wheat matched Tuesday's one-month low of $4.42-1/4 in early moves.
* The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported export sales of US wheat in the week ended April 11 at 545,500 tonnes (old and new crop years combined), in line with trade expectations.
* US Wheat Associates, a US trade group, is eying an 80% chunk of Brazil's 750,000-tonne tariff-free wheat import quota, the group's president said.
* CBOT May wheat last traded down 4 cents at $4.43 per bushel. K.C. May hard red winter wheat was last down 2-1/4 cents at $4.18-1/4 and MGEX May spring wheat was down 3/4 cent at $5.26-3/4.
CORN - Mixed, up 1 cent to down 1 cent per bushel
* Corn narrowly mixed as pressure from ample US and global grain supplies offsets support from potential Midwest planting delays and the fact that commodity funds already hold a huge net short position. Strong weekly export sales lend support.
* The USDA reported export sales of US corn in the week ended April 11 at 966,000 tonnes (old and new crop years combined), above a range of trade expectations.
* CBOT May corn last traded up 1/4 cent at $3.58-1/2 per bushel.
SOYBEANS - Steady to up 1 cent per bushel
* Soybeans flat to fractionally higher in technical moves, with uncertainty about US planting weather outlooks and prospects for a trade deal with top global soy buyer China underpinning values.
* There has been new progress in negotiating the text of a Sino-US trade deal but work remains to be done, China's commerce ministry spokesman told a regular news briefing.
* The USDA reported export sales of US soybeans in the week ended April 11 at 403,200 tonnes (old and new crop years combined), toward the low end of a range of trade expectations.
* The USDA reported combined-year soymeal export sales at 298,200 tonnes and soyoil sales at 26,000 tonnes.
* The Argentine government on Wednesday estimated its 2018-19 soybean harvest at 55.9 million tonnes.
* CBOT May soybeans last traded up 1/2 cent at $8.79-1/2 per bushel.
