MIRPUR (AJK): As a result of melting of snow at the Himalayan Jammu & Kashmir state at the start of summer, the water level in the country’s second largest reservoir - Mangla dam has started rising swiftly.

The water level in Mangla dam was reported as 1126.60 feet against maximum conservation level 1242 feet on Thursday, official sources told APP here on Thursday. The inflows of Jhelum river at Mangla reservoir reported as 60,000 cusecs with the outflows of 20,000 cusecs of water from the reservoir.

The overall position of the river inflows and outflows at Tarbela and Mangla dams as well as Chashma along with the reservoirs levels and the barrages remained on Thursday as under Rivers: Indus at Tarbela: Inflows 38100 cusecs and Outflows 25000 cusecs, Kabul at Nowshera: Inflows 42400 cusecs and Outflows 42400 cusecs, Jhelum at Mangla: Inflows 60000 cusecs and Outflows 20000 cusecs, Chenab at Marala: Inflows 33600 cusecs and Outflows 19100 cusecs. Barrages: Jinnah: Inflows 57100 cusecs and Outflows 52100 cusecs, Chashma: Inflows 42500 cusecs and Outflows 45000 cusecs, Taunsa: Inflows 35800 cusecs and Outflows 32600 cusecs, Panjnad: Inflows 21500 cusecs and Outflows 15500 cusecs, Guddu: Inflows 39200 cusecs and Outflows 39200 cusecs, Sukkur: Inflows 34000 cusecs and Outflows 10500 cusecs, Kotri: Inflows 4300 cusecs and Outflows Nil cusecs. Reservoirs (Level and Storage): Tarbela: Minimum operating level 1392 feet, present level 1406.71 feet, maximum conservation level 1550 feet, live storage today 0.219 million acre feet (MAF). Mangla: Minimum operating level 1050 feet, present level 1126.60 feet, maximum conservation level 1242 feet, live storage today 0.960 MAF. Chashma: Minimum operating level 638.15 feet, present level 643.90 feet, maximum conservation level 649 feet, live storage today 0.098 MAF.

The inflows and outflows of River Indus at Tarbela and Chashma, River Kabul at Nowshera and River Jhelum at Mangla have been reflected as mean flows of 24 hours, whereas the other flows have been gauged at 6.00 a.m, the sources concluded.
