ISLAMABAD: Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal said the anti graft watchdog had received 54,344 complaints and filed 590 corruption references in various accountability courts till March 2019.

Chairing a meeting to review performance of Operation and Prosecution Divisions of NAB at NAB Headquarters here Wednesday, he said NAB was the only organization which had recovered Rs 303 billion from corrupt and deposited in the national exchequer which was a record achievement, said a press release.

He said NAB had filed 1,219 corruption references in respected Accountability Courts which were under trial involving approximately Rs 900 billion. NAB was committed to eradicate corruption from the country through National Anti-Corruption Strategy for logical conclusion of mega corruption white collar crime cases by adopting “Accountability for All” Policy, he added.

The chairman NAB had directed all the DGs to conduct all complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations in accordance with law.

Corrupt elements, absconders and proclaimed offenders would be arrested as per law and taken to task in order to recover looted money from them, he said, adding this would help putting the country on road to progress, prosperity and completing all development projects on time.

He directed all Regional Bureaus of NAB to file applications in respected accountability courts for early expediting the ongoing corruption references.

He also directed all the prosecutors to pursue the cases with full preparations as per law on the basis of solid and incriminating evidence to conclude the corruption references to their logical conclusion.

He said NAB was the only institution in the world which had fixed timeframe to conclude white collar crime cases besides establishing its own state of the art Forensic Lab in NAB Rawalpindi which was helping in conducting quality inquiries and investigations as per law.

Considering corruption as cancer, NAB has adopted “Accountability for All” Policy to eradicate corruption and corrupt practices with iron hands. Due to this reason, figures of complaints from people against corruption have almost been doubled as compared to the figures of same period of 2018 to 2019.
