KARACHI: The leadership of Businessmen Group (BMG) and office bearers of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) have strongly condemned murder of a local businessman Muhammad Saleem, who was killed mercilessly at his business premises in Jodia Bazaar on Tuesday evening by unknown individuals.

Chairman Businessmen Group and Former President KCCI Siraj Kassam Teli, Vice Chairmen BMG Tahir Khaliq, Zubair Motiwala, Haroon Farooki and Anjum Nisar, General Secretary BMG AQ Khalil, President KCCI Junaid Esmail Makda, Senior Vice President Khurram Shahzad and Vice President Asif Sheikh Javaid, urged Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah and IG Sindh Doctor Kaleem Imam to issue strict directives for immediate arrest of culprits responsible for this heinous crime.

President KCCI Junaid Esmail Makda, while expressing deep sympathies with the bereaved family members of Muhammad Saleem, stated that the Karachi Chamber stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the family members and all traders belonging to Jodia bazaar in this hour of grief. “KCCI’s doors are always open to assist small traders and anyone who seeks Chamber’s assistance in dealing with genuine issues”, he added.

He was of the view that as Karachi city plays the role of a backbone in Pakistan’s economy, any such incident would not only affect the local businesses by triggering uncertainty but would also have a negative impact on the economy.

He requested Heads of Law Enforcing Agencies including police and rangers to enhance deployment, intensify patrolling and snap-checking in Jodia Bazaar and other important markets in the Old City area to avoid such incidents in future and ensure full-fledged security at these areas so that traders could fearlessly carry out their business activities.

Meanwhile, President KCCI Junaid Esmail Makda and General Secretary BMG AQ Khalil along with members of the Managing Committee and other BMGIANs also visited the protest camp in Jodia Bazaar on Wednesday to condemn murder of Muhammad Saleem and express completely solidarity with traders of Jodia Bazaar.
