ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court Thursday sought a copy of reference from National Accountability Bureau (NAB) pertaining to railway’s land, leased to Royal Palm Golf and Country Club and asked railways minister to come on next hearing with preparations.
During the course of proceedings, Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh said the top court would take the case to its logical conclusion.
The bench also permitted the Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed to give arguments in the case.
The minister pleaded before the bench that the land lease case was pending for last nine years.
The price of the leased land was more than Rs200 billions, he said adding the country’s asset was going to be destroyed.
NAB prosecutor general apprised the court that a reference had been filed to the accountability court in this regard and accused indictment was awaited yet. The court adjourned hearing of the case till next Thursday.
