MULTAN: Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the masses had rejected the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) in the by-election in PP-218 (Multan VIII) and reposed confidence on policies of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.

He said this in a press conference at residence of PTI candidate Malik Wasif Raan at Qadirpur Raan.

PTI candidate Wasif Raan got majority in the by-election against rival candidate of PPP Malik Arshid Raan, he said.

Qureshi said the masses of Multan had rejected the baseless propaganda of the both parties against the PTI government and voted the PTI candidate.

The masses gave a message that they were with the PTI in its struggle against corruption, the foreign minister said and congratulated Prime Minister Imran Khan for victory in by-polls in PP-218.

The victory of the PTI had strengthened the government's resolve against corruption once again, he added.

Qureshi observed that former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, former MNAs Musa Gilani, Abdul Ghaffar Dogar, Sikandar Bosan, former MPAs Shoukat Bosan, Rai Mansab and others launched a campaign against the PTI candidate.

He said that political rivals had used indecent language during the election campaign but the masses voted for the PTI candidate.

To a question, Qureshi said:" According to my information, the Gilani family was planning to join the PML-N".
