RAWALPINDI: The five-day anti-polio campaign that started in three tehsils of the district including Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation and Cantonments areas on March 25 has achieved 90 percent target.
Talking to APP, district anti-polio drive Incharge Muhammad Hussain Ch said more than 690,000 children upto five years have been administered drops in Tehsil Rawalpindi, Taxila, Gujar-Khan, Rawalpindi city and Rawalpindi/ Chaklala cantonment board areas while the set target of administering anti- polio drops to 742,000 children would be met till Friday.
The Incharge told that special attention is being given to high risk union councils of Safdarabad and Dhoke Dalal of the city as water environmental sample tested positive in these areas.
Under the drive, he said, around 2000 polio teams including 1500 mobile teams, 217 fixed points, 90 transit points, 187 Union council medical officers and 400 area incharges are participating in the drive, admitting that children had missed immunization for certain reasons like being out of the city or not present at home etc.
He said polio drops are also being administered at city transit points to ensure all children should be immunized below five years of age.
