LHC orders govt to remove Shehbaz Sharif's name from ECL
The Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered on Tuesday the removal of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif's name from the Exit Control List (ECL).
Giving his arguments, Sharif's lawyer said that his client used to go abroad and return during the investigation. He added that despite this, Sharif's name was on the ECL, local media reported. Rejecting the argument of the National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) counsel, the LHC ordered that Sharif's name be removed from the no-fly list.
Last month the Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly had filed a petition in the high court, seeking the removal of his name from the no-fly list. His name had been added in the ECL in February in the Ashiana Housing scam case. His name was placed on the ECL after NAB's recommendation.
The opposition leader is currently on bail granted to him by the LHC. He was in NAB's custody since October 5 last year.
