Marriage events at wedding halls must end by 11pm

KARACHI: The city administration on Thursday decided closure of marriage halls and marriage ceremonies/programmes at 11 pm.
It was decided in a meeting chaired by Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani here.
The decision was taken to counter problems being created because of late night wedding programmes.
A campaign would be initiated to get the marriage halls closed on 11pm, according to a statement.
To ensure its success all the relevant departments would be made the part of the campaign for which a meeting would be convened next week.
The wedding halls and lawns owners would be bound to pursue the directions and ensure closure of the venues on 11pm otherwise their halls and lawns would be sealed.
Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani has appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the agencies concerned as the decision was being taken in the best interests of public.
He said that marriage halls owners and organizers should take the decision as a warning.
The meeting also decided to ensure special arrangements for smooth traffic flow around the marriage halls.
Deputy Commissioner (Central) Farhan Ghani, Additional Deputy Commissioners of different districts, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) West, senior police officers, municipal officers, cantonment boards officers and others concerned attended the meeting.
