KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Prisons, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, on Wednesday said that jails shall be made training places for the prisoners and not confinement places so that they can become better and law abiding citizens after completion of their sentences.
During his visit to the District Jail Malir and medical camp set up by Essa Laboratory, the minister said that Sindh government was making all-out efforts for jail reforms in the province, said a statement.
He on the occasion directed the officers concerned to ensure provision of all facilities to the inmates according to jail manual. Nasir Hussain Shah instructed that visitors of prisoners be treated properly and be provided with all required assistance as per law.
The minister on the occasion visited the kitchen of the jail and inspected cleanliness and quality of food being provided to the inmates. He also visited the medical camp and interacted with prisoners, doctors and para-medical staff.
Dr. Farhan Essa of Essa Laboratory, Malir Jail Superintendent Aurangzeb and others concerned accompanied the minister during the visit.
