Hong Kong shares close 0.81pc higher

HONG KONG: Hong Kong shares closed 0.81 percent higher on Friday following a positive lead from Wall Street that was stoked by upbeat US jobs data.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong added 174.30 points to 21,562.26 on turnover of HK$61.28 billion ($7.85 billion).

Chinese shares ended up 1.43 percent. The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, closed up 34.58 points to 2,460.69 on turnover of 96.5 billion yuan ($15.3 billion).
