WASHINGTON: At least one person was injured and three were missing after a US Coast Guard helicopter crashed in the southern state of Alabama, a spokeswoman said early Wednesday.
Petty Officer Elizabeth Bordelon said the MH-65 Dolphin helicopter carrying four individuals crashed "in the vicinity" of Mobile Bay, Alabama, along the Gulf of Mexico coast, on Tuesday evening.
"Four people were on board. One of the individuals was located and has been taken to a local hospital," she said, adding that she did not yet know his or her medical condition.
Helicopters, a fixed-wing aircraft and several boats were carrying out an intensive search in and around the bay for the other three people, she said.
Bordelon said it was not yet clear what caused the crash.
